How to Register — Non-UW Students

Summer Sessions is open to everyone.

To enroll in Summer Sessions as a non-UW student at the Seattle campus, you need to apply to UW’s Summer Sessions before you can register for courses. Follow the steps below.

For details on how to register for Summer Sessions at other UW campuses, visit the UW Tacoma Nonmatriculated Students page or the UW Bothell Nonmatriculated Students page.

Step One: Find Your Class

Summer Sessions offers more than 1,000 courses to choose from. For help finding the course or courses that are right for you, see the Courses & Programs page.

The UW offers two different views of the quarterly schedule of classes that show details such as when and where a course is offered.

Step Two: Apply to Summer Sessions

  • Apply online using the Summer Sessions application. You’ll find the application link here once applications open on February 2, 2026 — check back then to apply.
  • Submit the nonrefundable application fee.

Once your application has been processed, you'll receive an email with your student number, private access code (PAC) and registration instructions. The email will tell you how to set up a UW NetID, which will allow you to access UW online services. You'll need a UW NetID to register.

Step Three: Register

  • Know when you can register. About two weeks before registration opens, you can find your specific registration date and time on Register.UW. You can also refer to Key Dates & Deadlines.
  • Complete pre-registration. Review legal acknowledgements, choose optional charges and confirm your contact information before you can register.
  • Once registration opens, use Register.UW to register online for your Summer Sessions courses. Have the Schedule Line Number (SLN) or course abbreviation and number handy from the Time Schedule.
  • If you used MyPlan to plan your courses, find out how to import them into Register.UW.
  • Be sure to register early — registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Step Four: Pay Tuition & Fees

Once you've registered, visit the Tuition & Fees page for UW Summer Sessions tuition costs. For payment instructions, see the information from Student Fiscal Services. For a full list of tuition deadlines, see the Academic Calendar.
